FAIRLIGHT is a safe space where poetry, music, photography, dance, ink and clay weave the cloth of olfaction. It’s a lush green crevasse hidden deep within the barren rocky coastal landscape, reminiscent of a temperate rainforest once ubiquitous throughout the British Isles, but now inevitably lost, with only tiny pockets of it clinging onto life, scattered sparsely across the country. And even though East Sussex coast does not classify as such, the Fairlight Glen still displays an array of mosses and lichens often indicative of a temperate rainforest presence. Following the path of a stream surrounded by ferns is a contemplative journey - through the glen, down the waterfall, past the tree stumps dotted with liberty caps, to the beach where the clothing is optional.
